I've wondered before if it would make sense for Balthazar and Gabriel to have some kind of history, but could never sort out in my mind how it might have been. Now I know :)
Bal and Cas' relationship was really touching as well. I like the idea that they compliment each other despite being so different, and that Cas' rebellion and Balthazar's 'death' can be explained partly as a result of them being spilt up.
Castiel's fascination with the 'righteous man' was a lovely touch too.
