book recs?

Does anyone have any steampunk recs? That's the theme for my bookclub this coming month and I don't know what to nominate!

Thank you!!

Perdido Street Station, by China Mieville

... I need to go check my bookshelves. I *know* I've liked more than that one book...

I'm not sure that the 16th century counts in Steampunk, but I've always been fond of Melissa Scott/Lisa Barnett's Point of Hopes (and its sequels).

I keep seeing The Anubis Gates on various Steampunk lists -- and I did love this book a lot -- but it's another one I'm not sure really qualifies. It's more a magic/time travel from the present day to Victorian Europe than actual Steampunk, imho.

I don't suppose your bookclub accepts fanfic? If so, I'd rec this. It's steampunk, can be read as original fic, is novel-length, and is amazingly well written.
