21 First Lines Meme
This has been doing the rounds lately. Nothing too illuminating to see here. I mostly seem to go for very short to the point first sentences - mostly starting with a name - which are probably supposed to be portentious. Perhaps it's good to be aware of this tendency for the future! This year is all about trying to be more considered about what/how I write. Which has led to me not writing anything much, but hey! Have a meme about things I wrote last year instead.
Perhaps bear in mind that some of these were comment fic *flails around for excuses*
Also this exercise requires me to own up to a couple of Remus/Sirius fics that came into existence as an outlet for my gross feelings about them which I hadn't previously been aware of so watch out for those.
1. This is a new forest. [already worried I’m messing this up because there are headings and stuff.] A New Forest and Other Things Somewhat of Note from 20th July 1978
2. Trombley spots them near the vegetables, and like the war-tested Marine that he is, he waits, and observes before he makes his presence known. LA Living
3. It starts innocuously enough, a few derogatory comments - less than half-meant, gentle teasing and a small bet made up of scoffing and victory promises. Lip Stick, High Heels and I love you.
4. They set down on the airfield at Kabul International Airport. Everything looks Different After The War
5. Brad wasn’t there but he has been told the story enough times to catch the general gist of Ray’s first adventure - despite the many different guises and flourishes Ray usually adds. Have You Forgotten Yet?
6. The first time I read your name was when you wrote it on the top of your parchment in Charms that first lesson in the Daily Prophet the day after you escaped. Don’t Tell The Beloved.
7. “This calls for epic make up sex,” Ray announces. You Get To Choose.
8. Derek stands by the end of his bed. Keep Each Other Until We Make A Plan.
9. Being born with the wolf is different to being bitten. Time To Gather Up The Splinters.
10. Derek and the Hales were her first try. I Will Give You The Man
11. Jackson should have been born female. Flipside.
12. Victoria curses her wounds. Wolf or Die.
13. Ray knows why it happened. Brass-Check.
14. Ray is into Batman. Silent, Greet the Dawn.
15. Ray first gets suspicious when Brad wakes him by throwing the book he’s reading across the room. Bedtime Reading
16. If it had been him in the arena, would he have known they were poisonous without being told? For More Than Just You.
17. Nate stares at Ray. Shag.
18. Brad spends a sum total of 15 minutes in Chinawhites. One Night, Five Years Ago.
19. Brad pours them two fingers of his best whisky and they stand, serious, half at attention, Brad toasting Ray silently in the kitchen. His Best Whisky.
20. Craig's trying to understand why Brian punched him. For The Team.
21. To the Wives: All they know of you is that you are missing. The Ent Wives are Lost.
Fandoms are, Generation Kill 2-5, 7, 13-15, 17-20, Teen Wolf 8-12, Harry Potter 1 & 6, Lord of the Rings 21, The Hunger Games 16.
Lalala I need to find some new fandoms to write in.
