Because
aldiara and
winterl0ver did it and so now I must do!
- Posted overall:
35 (including 14 drabbles for Drabble Day – yes I am counting them separately). Also waahey! 100% increase from last year’s Zero Fics Written. Hi Fandom, I am no longer new!
- Longest oneshot:
The Mind Fuck
Wrote it for the Dean/Cas Big Bang. I was really pleased with it in the end and have had some lovely comments but all the praise goes to
spaghettitoes who took a look half way through and hoisted it back into shape! And I mean by adding plot. :D
- Longest overall piece:
As above.
- Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
Ha, big fat yes, at the beginning of the year I didn’t know I would write any. But 35 seems like a big number so I guess you could say I enjoyed it.
- Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?:
Writing something long was tough. I learnt about planning and how necessary it can sometimes be to know where you're heading.
- What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?
Generation Kill. That took me completely by surprise, the existing fanworks are amazing and it’s so easy to get swallowed whole by them. And then even within GK I’m now writing as much Brad/Ray as Brad/Nate (Brad being the fandom bike apparently).
Also Mike/Lars. Hello Drabble Day of Win. (Well, 2nd place, lol. Fuck you Aldi and your 27 fics.)
- Do you have any fanfic or prolific goals for the New Year? Finish, post, etc.
Hmm, this will be interesting to check back to next year!
More GK stories probably because ideas for that eat my brain.
Also marathoning MSCL recently made me want Rayanne/Sharon fic like whoa, and there’s like none to be found.
And I have one more fairly hurty Deniz/Marc post-Roman fic that I may have to man up and finish/post at some point just to get it out of my system. *looks around for volunteers to beta that dollop of paincake* Room, why so empty?
- My favorite stories this year (of my own):
Um, for AWZ, I think Fuck the Pain Away, even though it’s sad it’s the most substantial thing I’ve written for the fandom and I’m quite proud of it.
For Supernatural I was really surprised with how well Brothers in Arms turned out. Rinsing the bible for fic ideas - so ideal!
- Story most unappreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
Haha, probably After the Hunt. That’s what you get for writing threesome fic for three “next generation” characters that never meet and are all about 12 when they appear on the show. Oh yeah, and one of them is supposedly the AntiChrist. Total crowd-pleaser. Even more shamefully, it’s probably the most explicitly porny fic I wrote all year. *hangs head*
- Most fun story:
Definitely the Mike/Lars Drabbles. Especially as Lil described it, “their Teen Beat make-up kink”. Sticky (Prompt: Lipstick) and Revenge Sex is Good Sex (Prompt: Mascara) are my faves I think.
- Most sexy story:
After the Hunt
Or
I’ll Be In My Bunk – which pretends to be Firefly crossover fic but is really sex on a bunk bed.
- Story with single sexiest moment:
Um, shite idk, maybe the bit in There Is A Way Our Bodies Are Not Our Own where Brad and Nate talk about what they would be like as lesbians? The GK genderswap thing is hawwwwt and this Is as close as I’ve gotten to that. It reads quite harshly out of context and I’m blushing to quote it but wth:
Brad grins down at him, "Dude we'd be one hotass lesbian couple. Shit, I think my brain exploded just thinking about it. Me all tatted up - California pussy - and you all eastcoast intellectual, buttoned up and fucking beautiful. I would lick your pussy raw man, I wouldn't stop for days and you would just come and come and come all over my face."
Brad rakes his tongue over Nate's mouth in demonstration, languidly lapping in between his lips as if it were the juiciest cunt he could imagine. His tongue explores under Nate's lips as if caressing the underside of the labia and Nate is forced to acknowledge that Brad must be pretty awesome at eating pussy.
- Story with single sweetest moment:
Anything involving Walt, so maybe the kiss in the Hand-holding fic. Seriously, non-GKers, look at him:

Also potentially the Mike/Lars drabble for the 20 years ago, i.e. before they got all mean and twisted. If We Met Before All This.
- Most unintentionally telling story:
I’m not sure I really understand this question, but probably Vanessa the Power Dresser ( wow do I regret that title, lol) because Ben/Vanessa is my secret incest otp and I loved putting those undertones in there; but also because I think I willfully put too much of how I wanted her to be into the fic rather than thinking about who she actually is.
- Fic that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
And You Mustn’t Show Weakness. Thinking about Roman at so many different points in his life was really helpful. (and kinda depressing, lol, poor Roman).
- Biggest disappointment:
I think the GK/Firefly crossover I wrote for the YAGKYAS Generation Kill holiday exchange, That was the River, This is the Sea. I was so excited to get the prompt and get writing except then the fic kinda became too big for me and I was never going to be able to do it right in time for the exchange. I’m not unhappy with the result but I’m sad I couldn’t do more justice to the characters as an ensemble, I ended up having to rein in the focus to just the one main pairing and couldn’t tell the story I’d meant to tell at the beginning or have half the fun Mal/Nate, River/Ray, River/Trombley, Brad/Zoe interactions I’d been salivating over in my head. :CC
- Biggest surprise:
Writing Dean/Balthazar in The Mind Fuck? I swear I don’t even like Balthazar. I mean I think I kind of like the character, or the idea of the character, but as he’s played by Seb Whathisname he’s kind of repulsive.
- Hardest story to write:
The Mind Fuck. Long fic is long. And the subject matter was pretty intense. By the time I was finishing it I was in a totally different mood to when I started it i.e. not dark and twisty, so it was hard to pick it back up and continue, but in the end that was probably good for the fic.
- Easiest story to write:
Don’t hate me but Fuck the Pain Away. That bitch just flew out of me. Yay paincake.
- This year's theme and the story that demonstrates it most:
Nope. ‘Fraid not. The lack of continuity is shocking frankly. :D
In the light of 35 fics. (In the unlikely event my maths is correct) I’ve posted a masterlist. Here.
Cross-posted from my IJ, here.
