1/8/15 06:41 (UTC)To explain myself a bit, for me there have been too many close-calls where they have really needed each other's help and the moments where Jack has had to rescue Phryne, few as they may be, seem to give him real terror. Her vulnerability is real and equal to her independence and I think it scares him to imagine the consequences of that, so, for that reason, the "save me" fantasy, even as a fantasy, didn't feel quite right.
Although, on the other hand, when he needed to distract her that one time, his mind did skip straight to, "I know, I'll kiss her." So there is that! :)
Anyway, I was determined to find a flaw because I certainly don't want to be spoiled for other fic. Most specifically any forthcoming from you!! I live in hope!
In other news the titular poem is glorious. I am a budding Alexandria-ophile due to my grandmother's life long romance with the city and this one made me cry all the tears. <33333
