Snowflake Challenge: day two

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you did not create. Drop a link to your post in the comments. See if you can rec fanworks that are less likely to be praised: tiny fandoms, rare pairings, fanworks other than stories, lesser known kinks or tropes. Find fanworks that have few to no comments, or creators new to a particular fandom and maybe aren't well known or appreciated. Appreciate them.

1. (a) I love a primer. I love the intoxicating enthusiasm that seeps out of them, how they build in excitement, how they lovingly take the piss out of the original material - whatever that might be. 

Two of my all-time favourites are: - and I don't even think you have to be invested in the fandoms in anyway to enjoy these particular ones - 
The Patrick Kane/Jonathen Toews Hockey RPF Primer IN TWO PARTS. It's hilarious. It's better than so much fic. There are videos and interviews and so many bad hair days.
Hello, Tailor's Teen Wolf 101: An Introduction to the Eighth Wonder of our World. Also hilarious. And TRUE: If you watch Teen Wolf, you love Stiles. If you don't watch Teen Wolf, you are merely living through a brief period of confusion prior to the inevitability of falling in love with Stiles.

1. (b) Rec posts. Similar to the primer thing in terms of why I love them.

mementis  just finished a whole year's worth of daily recs, RECS- 365, covering all sorts of fandoms and pairings, and really being open, honest and persuasive about the fics she was reccing. I particularly appreciated her Generation Kill recs but then I began to trust her recommendations so much that I ended up trying many more fics outside of my usual stomping ground on the basis of her posts. The whole thing is also beautifully tagged and easy to navigate to find what you want. 

2. One cracky, kinky fic of win that I don't think came to the attention of many people on the internet. For Bring Back the Porn on IJ this year lilithilien wrote brilliant multi-pairing Downton Abbey fic. It was glorious. Our Scandalous Days Behind Us (also here on AO3) includes the pairings Matthew Crawley/Lady Mary, Mrs Hughes/Mr Carson, Daisy Mason/OMC, Lady Edith/Miss O'Brien, Anna Smith/Lord Grantham and the kink warning list is just as long. So much of it made me completely hot and bothered, trying to work out whether it was naughty, erotic, confusing or just plain wrong. There were even some nuggets of real sweetness mixed in with the spankings. I cannot recommend it enough, especially if canon Downton has left you fed up and you want something to make you feel fondly for the characters again.
