Vera and Kate practicing burlesque! VERA MY HEART YOU GORGEOUS THING YOU. And the "It's all an act" moment. Really shows just how dense Kate is though that she has never seen through it before despite everything Vera's been through.

But I did finally like Kate when she told Ivan where to go - also tussled hair glory!

Betty & Gladys planning to go mortgage hunting! I love those two so much and it was an awesome moment when Gladys's strategy to use feminine wiles to get the banker on board was tipped on its head. <3

Kind of want Lorna/Reggie pwps with "you do so much for everyone else/let me do this for you" connotations.

I loved having a bit of Marco/Lorna interaction as well, there's been such a dirth since the abortion.

Marco&Vera's friendship seemed to be beautifully back on track and then it turned out to be foreplay. I don't know if I'm on board yet with these two. I love them so much as friends. If they're friends who have sex I could probably deal though, lol.

Love the bringing up of equal pay issue. This is the kind of thing Bomb Girls does so well with each of the girls feeling their way around the issue and what it means for them and reacting in so many different ways. I love just watching Lorna and Betty and Gladys arch their backs and sniff out the prickliness around them and battle with how affronted they are with the situation.

Canteen showdown!

The Betty/Kate hug was so lovely. Betty's whispered "It's great news" was so moving.

Lorna's letter to Bob. Gah. I just love Lorna so much, there's something so lost about her and so heartbreaking about the way she tries so hard.

Ugh, the burlesque was amazing, both scenes (Vera & Kate and Vera & Marco) - if Vera and Marco have to kiss, then yes, that is the best way to do it, I think: laughing and being silly and the power dynamics feeling really equal, if you know what I mean? I LOVE VERA SO MUCH.

Did Betty get beaten up in 2.8 or 2.9? I watched them both in a row last night so they've blurred, but either way: BETTY. MY HEART.

I lovelovelove Lorna, always, and I miss Bob. I don't want Lorna/Reggie, though, I still have a lingering yen for Lorna/Betty.

YES OMG THAT ACCENT! I had to go straight to twitter and rant about it after last weeks episode! Did anyone ever speak like that? The only person he sounds like is the "english" accountant guy from Mad Men. Tahmoh Penikett what are you about??

Betty got beaten up in 2.8. I'm glad you reminded me about that because it makes her determination to get a future for herself and her quiet acceptance of Kate's choices so much more poignant. Her watching Kate at the burlesque was lovely. (Although I've never really liked Kate enough to ship them at all).

Yeah I don't want Lorna/Reggie at all for the show either, I just had stray porny feelings about them this week!

NO, no one never speaks like that because it is a really bad attempt at RP. SERIOUSLY, getting an English actor should not have been impossible.

Sorry, I just have to jump in here re: the accents discussion. We have tons of English actors living and working in Toronto, but I don't think that's what they were going for. British Canada (which it was at that time) had an accent that had been evolving for centuries by then. If you listen to any of the old CBC radio recordings from that era, that's what you'll hear. (It's still spoken today amongst older Torontonians, but it's disappearing now, since we all watch American television, which I think is kind of sad.)

He says he was born in London though! Although there is a London in Canada, right? So maybe that's what he meant, but I definitely assumed they meant the UK, particularly because his accent gets remarked on, I think by Vera?

Yes, there's a London here in Ontario. Horrible place, and it's even on the River Thames, which is extra embarrassing.

But maybe I am wrong and Clifford is supposed to be from England, in which case, yeah, his accent's as bad as the German's was a few months ago. Still, he looks awfully good in that outfit. /shallow

In the US, there's a New London on the River Thames, and they pronounce Thames as thaymz. IT MAKES ME CRY.

Ha well I'm definitely more than happy to assume it's a Canadian London accent and concentrate on focusing on his exquisite tailoring over the pain of him butchering an English accent.
