backdating my fandom

amoamaSome two years after the fact I'm posting a fic I wrote for Alles was Zählt - a couple of people did a rewatch and started chattering a little so I thought this was the time to get this fic off my mind and onto the internets.
Roman and Deniz were on-again/off-again boyfriends whose relationship survived and developed through male escort!plot, retconned heterosexuality plot, sports doping!plot and much more soapiness but derailed fast when Roman's ex, Marc, appeared back in town to charm and relentlessly pursue Roman with ice musicals and pâté. Eventually Deniz and Roman got back on track, but this being soap-land, it finally ended with sad-soap-death (the kind with funerals that family members neglect to attend). Also Marc was never mentioned, which was sad because he was an awesome character, with a lot of history with Roman.
In response I wrote this fic, which I always wished I'd posted because I liked it and I liked the feel of it. Mostly, of these two survivors helping each other come to terms with the worst. But also, the idea that with Roman alive the two of them could never get on, would always be divided by their competition for Roman's affections; but without him there's room for them to have a different kind of relationship.
